Juan Martinez-Villalobos
Director of Community Engagement
Juan is a Postgraduate Associate in the Augert Lab at Yale School of Medicine's Department of Pathology. His research focuses on Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC), employing transcriptomics, epigenetics, and genome-wide CRISPR screens.
Juan holds a B.S. in Genomic Biotechnology. During his undergraduate studies, he gained experience in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic research under Dr. Susana de la Torre's guidance. His work encompassed human genomics and metagenomics of extreme environments.
As an undergraduate, Juan led innovative biotech projects, including the study of biofoam production in Leptodactylidae frog bubble nests, regulated through B. subtilis' natural complex metabolic pathway (iGEM 2020). His passion lies in biological data analysis and science communication.
Outside the lab, Juan enjoys playing tennis and creating scientific content for various platforms.
